It satisfies the fun birthday cake feel for the most reasonable price. It may not totally satisfy the birthday cake need, since it is, in fact, doughnuts disguised as a cake, but it is fun. I placed an ordered a sandwich online and specified I was celiac and would have to avoid cross contact. I will say I did not specify not toasted but it was a build your own and it didn’t say it would be toasted or give an option so maybe I should have specified.

If you have celiac stick to coffee and let your friends enjoy the "GF" pastries. I've enjoyed the salads and soups (just ask what's in it first) and the desserts are always a fave. I mostly get the French macarons (cinnamon and lemon are my favorites), the tea cakes are gf and are so moist and flavorful, and you can't go wrong with a gf salted caramel brownie. I used to go for the gf salted caramel brownie but recently found out close to half their menu is gf because they use almond flour, so be careful if you have a nut allergy. Our vegan cakes are available in seven sizes—plus tiered combinations. I don’t fall into either category, but I can empathize with those who feel as if their dining options are severely limited by the ubiquity of gluten in, well, all of human existence. I made it my mission to make them better by studying, reading about, and testing gluten free items. I tested them on my wife, her family, the staff at her business, friends, strangers, you name it!
After doing this I was strongly encouraged by all to make this for a larger group of people and here we are. Since 2009, Sunflour Baking company has been a local favorite for both locals in the East Blvd and Dilworth neighborhoods, but also for customers all around Charlotte and beyond. People all over the country order our Cupcakes in a Jar every day! Now we have opened our 3rd bakery in Harrisburg NC, and our 4th location in Ballantyne. We kindly ask for a 48 hour notice for all incoming cake and cupcake orders. This time frame allows us to ensure that all our orders and products have the perfect amount of time and care.

I’m giving 5 stars because I haven’t eaten here, but I just wanted to warn those with celiac disease—the macarons are NOT safe. I called and asked if the gluten free macarons are prepared on/with the same equipment as the gluten containing flavors.
